Here’s a look back at my Top 10 Fall 2013 runway favorites. I love the leather, the dark colors, blush pink accent and sleek lines. The mood is edgy yet girly, a boy meets girl feel. I love the gray Marchesa gown the most. Oh, how I'd love to get married (again!) in this dress!
How lucky can a girl get? I won the Harman Kardon’s New York Fashion Week Giveaway! The epic giveaway included backstage passes and VIP tickets to Boy Meets Girl’s “Invasion NYFW” show last February 13th, watching Epic Records artist Leah Labelle perform her sexy new single “Lolita”, modeling with Stacy Igel and Leah in a backstage photo shoot wearing items from the Invasion collection, winning a pair of awesome Harman Kardon headphones and brand new Conair rotating curling iron, an interview with Roxy Manning from Red Carpet Roxy and to top it all off, a BILLBOARD in TIMES SQUARE New York!
Yes, I just said billboard in freaking Times Square! I was in total shock when I got the message via Twitter. I brought my daughter to the show and she had so much fun! It was her first fashion show and it was definitely a night to remember! We saw how everything came together, from the run through to hair and makeup, to rehearsals to last minute changes. My daughter wanted every piece of the Invasion collection. It was perfect because the show featured the launch of Boy Meets Girl kids collection which was totally street chic! Leah Labelle was so incredible! She has great talent and is such a sweetie! I even got the inside scoop on how to get her rock solid abs.

My daugher, the future supermodel!
My super cute outfit was personally chosen by Stacy. My beautiful curls were c/o Avigail from Conair and makeup by another lovely lady (whose name I forgot to ask) from Kevyn Aucoin. After that, I was ready for my very first on-air interview with Roxy! We both wore the new white Harman Kardon CL headphones during the interview. They are crystal clear and currently my new style obsession! I was probably a nervous wreck during the interview but who cares? I have a billboard!
Stacy, Leah, Amy, Tara, Diana, Roxy, Avigail and the rest of the crew from Boy Meets Girl, Harman Kardon, Epic Records, Conair, Kevyn Aucoin and Style 360 were darlings! I am so grateful to everyone who made this the best day ever! Coming soon – my Times Square billboard with Stacy and Leah! Watch for it!
Gifts are unwrapped, lights are taken down and winter is officially here. That only means that New York Fashion Week is around the corner!
Here’s a look back at my Top 10 Spring 2013 runway favorites. These pieces are wearable and versatile and share a common theme – black and white, cut outs, color and sheer. I can’t wait to see what Fall 2013 has to bring!
The city that never sleeps became a ghost town. The devastation in New York could rival any apocalypse movie. Never have I seen downtown Manhattan completely shut down. The streets were pitch black, the stores were abandoned, there were no working street lights, barely any hot food was available and gas is scarce. Downtown was so dead and isolated. And that was only what I personally witnessed. Fire, floods, explosions, evacuation, death, violence and crimes have been occurring since it started on Monday, October 29.
On Monday, our car was literally being blown away by the wind a few hours before the storm hit. We lost power in the island even before Sandy hit. By Tuesday, each island was isolated from the mainland. Every tunnel and bridge was closed for the public's safety. On Wednesday, everyone was trying to assess damage to their property. Some came back to nothing. On Thursday, the trains were running every hour while the bridges were limited to vehicles with 3 passengers or more. There was commuter chaos everywhere. Today is Friday. Gas is so scarce that people have resorted to violence and crime. Millions of people still don’t have power. Landlines, cell phone service and WiFi have been really sporadic. New York is frustrated but not discouraged. The whole week was like a prequel to the end of times.
This shows how vulnerable we are against Mother Nature. This is the hand of God showing us that we are nothing against Him. This is only a Category 1 Hurricane. I cannot even fathom the damage if it was something more. Our credit cards, cell phones, laptops, TVs, lights, iPhones and iPads were no use to us. We had to resort to old school cash, payphones, bicycles, radios, candles and lanterns. You realize what is essential in life when you are in a situation like this. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs show that physiological needs are the first and essential requirements for human survival. We need food, water, clothing and shelter. Everything else is secondary.
Personally, I am grateful for our health, safety, a working gas stove and hot water. We lost power for 4 days and I am thankful that we have the heat running now that the temperatures are dropping. I realize that my kids did not need the TV or the computer. They had each other. They slept at 8pm every night after playing with Legos, puzzles and card games. They were inseparable. There were books to read, games to play, and songs to sing. We are truly thankful to God for what we have. Losing power is a minor inconvenience compared to what the rest of the state had to go through.
The nation is rebuilding little by little. I don’t know how long we’ll have this power outage and gas shortage but we are hoping for the best. Both my husband and I are essential workers meaning we have to be at work every day and leave the kids without any heat or power. Any parent will agree that being away from their children during a state of emergency is terrifying. Kudos to all the rescue and utility workers who have to brave the wind and storm to rescue and recover. The countless men and women who have stepped up to help are the true heroes of our nation.
My thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone at this trying time. I pray that our nation will recover from this disaster soon. May we never lose our humanity in times like these. May we never have to experience this ever again. God bless us all!
I finally got to wear this beautiful jacquard dress that was featured in Vogue’s 100 under $100 List a few years ago. My daughter was a junior bridesmaid for my high school friend’s wedding. How time flies! I have a tween already!
I fell in love with this Neoprene cut out peplum dress as soon as I saw it online. The daring dress is sexy and pretty at the same time! I opted for high pony tail and no accessories since the dress already speaks for itself. My last hurrah before the summer ends!
